The Fox Sports game of the week is also the battle for the Vet as Long Beach Poly hosts Los Alamitos in a meeting of two teams who have long called Veterans Memorial Stadium home. It’s also the rematch of the thrilling 2004 CIF-SS Division 1 championship game, which was won by the Jackrabbits thanks in large part to the heroics of DeSean Jackson.
“There’s a lot of history between Poly and Los Al and I know that our fans will be excited for it,” said Poly coach Stephen Barbee.
Jackrabbits and Griffins fans are also anxious to see their teams get on the winning side of things as Los Al is off to an 0-2 start and Poly is 0-1 after a lopsided shutout loss to Punahou.
Barbee said his team was eager to get back on the field and prove themselves after that loss to the Buffanblu.
The game has a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and will be televised on Fox Sports.
