Long Beach Poly cross country alum Christian Kerr picked up a major honor last weekend, finishing in 10th place in the annual Angeles Crest 100. One of the nation’s premier ultramarathons, the Angeles Crest takes place in the San Gabriel Mountain range in the Angeles National Forest, and is a 100-mile mountain trail that features 19,000 feet of climbing and 24,000 feet of descending runs.
Kerr finished 10th overall in the race with a time of 23 hours and five minutes, finishing the race at 4:05 in the morning Sunday after an early morning start on Saturday. Rupert Romero won the race with a time of 19:39, the only runner to finish in under 20 hours. Kerr was second place in the 18-29 age group. Kerr was running with the Rabbit Elite Trail Team–the name comes from an apparel company, however, not his alma mater.
