With the local high school teams on spring break, here are the biggest Long Beach State and Long Beach City College games coming up this weekend.
THURSDAY
Long Beach City College Men’s Volleyball vs. El Camino College, 5 p.m.
The No. 3 Vikings will be at Fullerton College this weekend for the CCCAA State Championship, and that starts with the semifinals against El Camino this afternoon. LBCC and El Camino split their regular season series. El Camino won a five-set thriller on the first day of March, but LBCC got revenge with a 3-1 win at the end of March.
FRIDAY
Long Beach State Women’s Water Polo vs. UC Santa Barbara, 1 p.m.
The first game of the Big West Conference Tournament at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center. All of the teams are guaranteed three matches, and the final is scheduled for Sunday. LBSU lost to UCSB last week to finish the regular season.
Long Beach State Dirtbags at UC Davis, 2:30 p.m.
The Dirtbags are still looking for their first road series win of the year, and have a good chance to it this weekend against fellow basement dwellers UC Davis. The series continues at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and concludes at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Long Beach State Women’s Tennis At Big West Conference Tournament
The Beach is in the desert this weekend for the Big West Conference Tournament at Indian Wells. LBSU will be the No. 3 seed and start the single elimination bracket against No. 6 Cal Poly. The final is scheduled for Sunday morning.
Long Beach State Beach Volleyball at Big West Conference Tournament
The Big West Conference Tournament is in Malibu this year where the Beach is looking to make an underdog run to the title. LBSU finished second in the tourney last year.
SATURDAY
Long Beach State Softball at Cal Poly, 1 p.m.
LBSU is stuck in fourth place in the Big West, two games back of third place. This weekend the Beach is at seventh place Cal Poly where they can try to cut down the four-game gap between them and first place Cal State Fullerton.
TUESDAY
CIF Southern Section Playoffs
