Long Beach Sports Calendar: March 21-24

Find out where your favorite Long Beach team is playing this weekend.

THURSDAY

High School Baseball, 6:30 p.m.

The only Moore League game at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field today is Poly hosting Cabrillo. Last year, pitcher Dylan Gambino helped the Jaguars upset the Jackrabbits 6-1. In other action today, Millikan is hosting Compton while Lakewood takes on Jordan at the MLB Academy.

High School Softball, 3:15 p.m.

The top three Moore League teams are all on the road today as Lakewood visits Compton, Millikan travels to Cabrillo and Wilson visits Jordan.

High School Boys’ Tennis, 3 p.m.

Today rounds out a very busy week for the Moore League with three match days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. This afternoon the marquee matchup will be at Millikan were the Rams are hosting Wilson. In other action, Lakewood is hosting Jordan and Compton is visiting Cabrillo.

Long Beach State Women’s Water Polo vs. Princeton, 7 p.m.

The Beach is back at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center to try and extend its seven-game winning streak. LBSU has won five of the six nonconference meetings with Princeton, and the Tigers haven’t beaten the Beach since 1999.

Long Beach State Women’s Tennis vs. Hawaii, 2 p.m.

This is the first of three consecutive Big West matches for LBSU in a 10-day span. The Beach leads the all-time series with Hawaii 17-11.

High School Boys’ Volleyball, 4 p.m.

Wilson and Poly will renew the oldest rivalry in Long Beach today in a Moore League match that will shake up the standings no matter the result. That match is at Poly, and the other games today Millikan visiting Jordan and Compton hosing Cabrillo.

FRIDAY

Long Beach State Dirtbags vs. Cal State Fullerton, 6 p.m.

This is the annual nonconference series that these Big West rivals play every season. This year it is three games at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field. CSUF is under .500 like the Dirtbags, but the Titans are still putting up good statistics with a .294 batting average. The series continues at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and concludes at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

High School Swimming, 3 p.m.

The Moore League is in full swing again this afternoon as Poly hosts Cabrillo, Lakewood travels to Jordan and Wilson visits Millikan.

Long Beach State Beach Volleyball vs. Washington, 10 a.m.

LBSU will be at Granda Beach on Belmont Shore for two matches today, and two more tomorrow. The Beach will also face Nebraska, Stanford and Colorado Mesa.

SATURDAY

Long Beach State Men’s Volleyball at No. 10 USC, 7 p.m.

The No. 1 team in the nation is on the road this weekend for a rematch with USC. At the end of January, LBSU used a season-high 13 aces and tough defense to beat USC at Walter Pyramid 25-17, 26-24, 19-25, 25-17.

Long Beach State Softball vs. Loyola Marymount, Noon

The Beach is back at home today for the last nonconferece doubleheader of the season. LBSU leads the all-time series with LMU 24-9 after winning nine of the last 10 meetings.
