Long Beach Poly is seeking a return trip to the CIF Southern Section championship, two years after claiming their last gold plaque. Standing between Poly and next weekend’s Division 1 championship game is ML King, who hosts the Jackrabbits Friday evening at 7 p.m. in Riverside.
“They’re a really good team, athletic, they’re really good on the drive,” said Poly coach Carl Buggs.
Both teams will be dealing with a quick turnaround having played in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Poly (20-9) will need big performances defensively from its young guards, who will have to keep a drive-and-kick offense down to come away with a win.
Whoever can come away with a win will have a week off before facing the winner of Keppel and Chaminade in next week’s championship.
Stay tuned for live updates from the game.
