The first line item on Wilson’s checklist for the 2019 season was to retake the Moore League championship. Last year, the trophy went to Poly for the first time in league history, but Wilson sewed up an undefeated league championship on Wednesday afternoon with a big win over Lakewood, 16-1.
Although the team was eager to win their 16th Moore League championship (the league has had the sport for just 18 years), head coach Barry O’Dea said his team didn’t have a big celebration today. “We knew what we were capable of doing this year,” he said. “That was one of our season goals, now we want to make a deep run into the playoffs having been moved up a division.”
Wilson won last year’s CIF championship in Division 3, but are in the Division 1/2 pool this year. Playoff brackets will be released this weekend.
