Two days after a thrilling win over Pepperdine at Walter Pyramid, the Long Beach State men’s basketball team made the clutch plays again to beat visiting Colorado State 64-61 on Saturday afternoon.
This is the first winning streak of the season for LBSU (5-9) and it’s also revenge for losing at Colorado State last year on a half-court buzzer beater.
Colorado State (5-7) used a 12-2 run in the second half to take the 54-53 lead with 4:26 to play. A key 3-pointer from Deishuan Booker gave the Beach a four point lead with two minutes to play, and LBSU went 6/6 from the free throw line after that to secure the victory.
LBSU has played two of its best defensive games of the season on this homestand, and forced Colorado State into 22 turnovers. The Rams average 10 per game.
The Beach visits Stanford on Dec. 29 before hosting Bethesda on Jan. 5.
