Both Long Beach Poly and Wilson won CIF Southern Section girls’ tennis playoff matches on Wednesday. The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Long Beach Poly (23-0) went on a long road trip to Temecula where the Jackrabbits handed Great Oak a 17-1 defeat in Division 2. Poly got sweeps from singles Ava Deguzman, Kate Johnson and Lola Underwood. The Jackrabbits host La Canada on Wednesday.
Wilson (20-2) defended its home courts with a 13-5 win over visiting Corona Centennial in Division 3. The Bruins got sweeps from senior Bella Nguyen, sophomore Maddie Tadd, and the doubles team of Kelsey Paz and Natalie Quinn. Wilson travels to Laguna Beach on Wednesday.
“We came off of a big win and the girls were just extra pumped,” Wilson coach Kerri McBride said.
