The Avalon High 8-Man football team went on the road to beat Calvary Chapel Downey 28-20 on Saturday in the regular season finale.
Avalon (8-1, 5-1) got three touchdown Beto Martinez as he caught two scores from quarterback Jose Gomez, and also had a kick return for a touchdown. Gomez clinched the victory on defense with an interception. Cristo Hernandez and Pablo Chavolla also contributed multiple sacks.
The Lancers start the CIF playoffs in two weeks.
