It hasn’t been the season that St. Anthony was hoping for. The Saints are 2-6 on the year and 1-1 in the Del Rey League, but could still make the playoffs if they win out. That journey starts anew tonight against St. Genevieve, which just lost to Harvard-Westlake.
“If we can beat St. Genevieve there will be a lot of intriguing scenarios,” said Saints coach Mario Morales.
The flip side of that, of course, is that a loss tonight would virtually guarantee that the team’s season would end next week against St. Paul.
“St. Genevieve is always good, they’re always a tough team in the league,” said Morales. The Valiants run it about twice as often as they pass it and are averaging 350 yards per game on the ground, which will post a big challenge to St. Anthony’s front seven.
St. Anthony will host St. Paul next week in their regular season finale.
