PREVIEW: Millikan Girls’ Volleyball

Last year under Jan Green the Rams defeated Wilson for the first time in a decade–this year, the Rams return eight seniors and are looking to make more history with Anna Becker leading the way as a captain.

“We have a lot of strength in a lot of areas, I think we’ll be able to compete and hold our own in the Moore League,” said Green. “All credit to Poly and Lakewood but I want to compete this year against them.”

In addition to Becker, Annie Guthmann figures to be a key player for the Rams along with Mina Barajas. Senior Madison Howard will be the Rams’ libero.

“We’ve been working hard for four years with these eight seniors,” said Green. “We’re excited for the season.”

The Rams opened it up with a little more history, taking the consolation championship in the Tae Kim Molten Classic and earning their first varsity hardware in several seasons. The performance left Green even more optimistic about her team’s chances in the always-tough Moore League.

“I’m so proud of what we have displayed early in the season,” said Green. “We still have a lot of work to do but I think this team is up for the challenge.”
