Avalon coach Carlos Martinez knows that his team can make a playoff run in the CIF-SS Division 9 bracket–if they can get there. The Lancers have had playoff success in the past but are in a division with two Division 7 teams and two Division 8 teams this year.
“If we can get out of league I know we can make a run in the playoffs,” said Martinez.
Avalon features four talented freshmen, including setter Virginia Soto and outside hitter Hanna Hoefs. Senior captains Jasmine Reyes and Stephanie Martinez round out the team along with sophomore libero Yuliana Vega and sophomore Giselle Alvarez.
