Long Beach State Dirtbags Beat No. 11 UCLA

The Long Beach State Dirtbags beat No. 11 UCLA for the second time this season on the road Tuesday night with a 5-1 victory. LBSU (22-26) scored all five runs in the fourth inning while and Wilson High alum Tyler Radcliffe picked up the win on the mound. It is the fourth consecutive road victory for the Dirtbags, and the 250th win for coach Troy Buckley.

Designated hitter Jacob Hughey had two hits, and the Millikan High alum also drove in a run as part of the fifth inning. Third baseman Shaq Robinson capped the rally with a three-run home run. Left fielder Tristan Mercadel made a highlight catch to rob a home run in the eighth inning.

Freshman Jake Lopez made his first career start and pitched three scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts. Radcliffe pitched four scoreless innings thanks to two double plays. Sophomore Dylan Spacke recorded three straight strikeouts looking against the 3-4-5 hitters to end the game and leave the bases loaded.

The Dirtbags hosts UC Santa Barbara this weekend.
