The Long Beach State Dirtbags returned to Bohl Diamond at Blair Field on Friday night for their first Big West Conference weekend series in 19 days, and they celebrated in front of a crowd of almost 3,000 with an 8-0 win over UC Davis.
LBSU (18-24, 4-6) got another stellar start from Sophomore Zak Baayoun (7.2 IP, 6 H, BB, 2 K) who got the 13 of his 23 recorded outs via ground balls. The left-hander is 7-2 in 11 starts with a 3.00 ERA.

The Dirtbags offense manufactured scoring opportunities with four sacrifice bunts and three sacrifice flies. Freshman catcher Chris Jimenez was the only player with two RBIs, freshman first baseman Leonard Jones was the only player with two hits, and junior third baseman Shaq Robinson was the only player with two runs scored.
UC Davis (13-23, 5-8) will send right-handed pitcher Jared Sasaki (3-4, 5.67 ERA) to the mound at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and LBSU will counter with junior lefty Clayton Andrews (3-7, 3.06 ERA).
