FROM LBSU REPORTS
The Dirtbags (7-12) ran into an onslaught from Tulane (9-11) on Saturday as the visiting Green Wave scored 10 runs on 16 hits to even the series with a 10-6 victory at Blair Field.
There were some offensive highlights for Long Beach State, however, as LBSU had four doubles and a home run on the day, seeing five of the team’s eight hits go for extra bases. Clayton Andrews opened the scoring with a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the third inning, scoring Santino Rivera to make it 1-0 Dirtbags. Long Beach State also got its third home run of the season, a two-run opposite field shot from Jarren Duran in the ninth inning. It’s the first long ball of the season for the junior infielder and the second of his career.
Rivera scored an impressive four times on Saturday, reaching on a double, a hit by pitch, and a pair of walks. Duran went 3-for-5 on the day with two runs and two RBIs. He is now hitting a team-best .329 on the season and is riding a six-game hitting streak, going 12-for-25 (.480) during that stretch. Andrews finished the game with a pair of RBIs as well, though he wasn’t as effective on the mound as he’s been in his last few starts.
LBSU will look to win the series on Sunday, which will have an 11:30 a.m. first pitch. RHP Tyler Radcliffe will make the start for the Dirtbags, going against Tulane RHP Keagan Gillies.
