Long Beach State women’s golf combined to shoot a 6-under par 282 in the first round of the Wildcat Invitational, which is the best single round in school history. The 49ers broke a record set in 2006.
Sophomore Holland Shourds had six birdies in the first round to finish with a career-low round of 68, 4-under par. Shourds shot an even-par 72 in the second round, and is tied for third place in the tournament at 4-under par.
Top-ranked UCLA leads the field after two rounds, with hosts Arizona and Texas the other two schools in front of LBSU entering the final round on Tuesday.
